Torakichi Gotō was a pupil of the prolific flower-and-bird printmaker Hiroshige Utagawa. After the death of both Hiroshige and another of his pupils, named Hiroshige II, Torakichi called himself Hiroshige III. Using the same semi-realistic style as his teacher, Hiroshige III made more than seventy-five woodblock prints of flowers and (or) birds during his career. Some prints were published individually and others in picture books. This gallery shows ten examples. Click on a picture to enlarge it. To see more of Hiroshige III’s pictures click here.
